I met Michele months back and when she and I chatted and got to know each other over our first meeting I knew that I would love to work with her; she is soo energized, real and fun to be with!  Michele and Pablo are getting married at the Arrowhead Golf Course which is just breath taking and amazing to photograph at, definitely one of my most favorite places to photograph!

Michele, Pablo and I headed to the mountains for a couple of fun hours for their engagement session and did we have fun.  They both were soo comfortable in front of the camera and soo much fun to photograph; thank you both!  I truly feel soo blessed to have clients like Michele and Pablo who make my job fun and truly enjoyable as they are a wonderful couple.  Here are just a few of my favorites pic’s from our session!

What to look for and How to Hire the Right DJ for your Wedding day!

Filed under: Uncategorized — encoreportraits @ 6:34 am

In some of my past blogs I have done entries on tips on how to find the right florist, the difference between traditional and photojournalistic photography and I thought it would be beneficial to also blog about DJ’s and what to look for and tips on how to hire the right DJ.  As we all know the reception is just as important as the rest of the day however hiring the right DJ to fit you both can be interesting.

Choosing the right wedding DJ will either make a great difference at your wedding reception or make invited guest flee after they have had enough to eat and drink. A good DJ sets the tone of the wedding by choosing music that will keep the guests on their feet and lifting their spirits. So it is really important that you take the time to search for a good wedding Disc Jockey before your big day.

Great Ways to find the right DJ for your Wedding Reception

One of the best ways that you can find a good wedding DJ is to get recommendations from family members, friends who have recently tied the knot and co workers. You may even want to think about asking your venue if they have a list of referrals for DJ’s they think are great to work with and do a fantastic job! Relying on referrals alone in order to get a good disc jockey is not enough; you need to ensure that the DJ has the right personality, experience, skills and whether his or her style matches your personal taste and personality.

Here are some of the questions that you need to get answers to before you finally decide to hire the services of a wedding DJ:

1. Type of Music

You need to know what type of music the DJ plays and how much of the musical input is he or she allowing you and your would be spouse to make and does he or she also accept special request from guests at the reception.. What are the popular tracks that will keep guests on their feet?

2. Disc Jockey’s Experience

You need to know this: how much experience does the wedding DJ have? And has he or she played at the venue you will be having your reception? Good wedding DJs know how to read the crowd and have the latest DJ equipment as well.

3.  Price

How much is the DJ charging to supply the music at your wedding? Remember this; you should not be frugal when it comes down to the choice of hiring a good wedding disc jockey. Make sure that you agree on the details concerning the cost of hiring the DJs services, this also includes any extra charge for overtime, equipment and any other miscellaneous expenses – the agreement is usually written up in the contract.

When hiring a wedding DJ, it is very important you get a well written contract and do not be fooled into thinking that a contract is not necessary. A contract contains some of the following details:

– Pricing
– Set up
– Additional fees or hidden charges etc

Signing a contract is really for your own protection in case the wedding DJ turns out to be a total disappointment later on.

Finally and in my opinion the most important is do you have a connection, do you like the DJ you are interviewing and if so make sure he or she will be the DJ at your reception not one of his or her associates.  Some companies have a lot of DJ’s they employ and it is very important that you meet the person and like the person who will be doing the DJ services for your special day; you don’t want any surprises!
